Listening?

LAST weeks headlines “END OF THE ROAD;COUNCIL TRAFFIC GROUP DISBANDED”. Nothing unusual there when you realise it’s the “listening” Conservatives at Wokingham Borough who have kicked it into the long grass along with the Lollipop Ladies and the anything but safe routes to Bohunt School. Classic Nasty Conservatives who are alive and well and running Wokingham.

Add the stupidity of planning a safety audit after the event for Market Place when it should have been carried out before it was opened to the public. Incompetence or indifference but I suspect being Conservatives a bit of both added to a total disregard for Wokingham’s residents.

If these are examples of how residents petitions are treated with such disdain by such an arrogant Conservative run Administration one wonders how they are going to treat the three others coming their way.

My gut reaction is they will pay lip service to them in public but in the secrecy of their own Group they will kick them all into the long grass with all the others.

The reality though is having opened Pandora’s Box on thousands and thousands of extra houses to go on our Greenfield’s it’s too late to shut the lid now but it’s what they have wanted all along. Goodbye Greenfield’s hello cement mixers, traffic congestion supported by completely inadequate infrastructure.

Roll on next May when Wokingham’s residents will at long last be able to sign a petition that will actuality have real teeth. It’s called the Ballot Box. Cllr Gary Cowan. Independent Borough Councillor for Arborfield at Wokingham Borough Council.
