Sonning 2s enjoy first win of the new season

-

GOALS from Peter Mitchell and Ian Ta guided Sonning 2s to their first victory of the season.

In wet conditions at Sonning Lane, the hosts took on Staines 2s, who also came into the game with no points.

And Mitchell and Ta found the net to clinch a 2-0 win to get Sonning off the mark in Division 1.

But there was no such joy for the 1s up in MBBO Regional 1 as they lost 3-1 at Oxford Hawks 2s, despite a Jon Sharp goal.

SOUTH BERKSHIRE men enjoyed a fine weekend with the first team easing past Banbury 2s 4-1.

Jack Baveystock, Ben Dudley, Sam Fox-Harvey and Harrison Scott all found the net as

Berks bounced back from their opening day defeat in Regional 2.

The 2s did even better in Division 2, thrashing Ashford 2s 6-1 with Paul Kaplanski (2), Daniel Ray (2), Mike Baylis and Mathias Temmink on target. SONNING 3s began their season with a second straight draw, 1-1 at Banbury 3s with Harry Green finding the net.

In the same division, SOUTH

BERKSHIRE 3s edged out Milton Keynes 3s 3-2 to bounce back from their opening day 10-0 defeat.

Richard Wallace bagged a brace for Berks with Andy Sonden also scoring.

Lower down the leagues, goals from Sean Barker, Ben Berryman and Anton Churchill could not prevent a 4-3 loss for

SONNING 4s against Windsor 2s.

Meanwhile, SOUTH BERKSHIRE 4s and TERRIERS were both victorious, as were SONNING 6s, but SONNING 5s

lost. Women SONNING LADIES continued their brilliant start to the

Trysports Premier 1 season with an 8-2 demolition job against Oxford Hawks Ladies 3s.

Alice Potter and Lizzie Studley scored consolation goals for Oxford as Sonning

racked up their third win from three, taking their goals tally to 18 in the process. SOUTH BERKSHIRE LADIES

are tucked in behind in second spot after a 2-2 draw at Newbury and Thatcham.

In the same league,

SONNING 2s suffered their second defeat of the campaign with a 3-0 loss against Maidenhead 2s.

SONNING 3s are top of Division 1 after a 3-0 win at Abingdon.

Both sides went into the weekend with perfect starts to the campaign, but Sonning ran out comfortable victors at Tilsey Park. SOUTH BERKSHIRE 2s also picked up a good away win, 4-1 at Reading Riots.

In Division 3, Holly

Bentley and Jess Morgan both found the net to guide SOUTH BERKSHIRE 3s to a 2-1 win at

Bicester 2s.

Elsewhere there were wins for SONNING 4s and 5s, the VETERANS drew and SOUTH BERKSHIRE 4s lost.
