A real folk fusion to enjoy
A SPECIAL gig is being promised for folk music lovers on Monday as two great groups come together to perform an exciting evening of music.

Big Band will be teaming up with Edgelarks – duo Philip Henry and Hannah Martin – for a rare joint performance at Nettlebed Folk Club.
Gigspanner, formed by (exSteeleye Span) legendary fiddle player Peter Knight, has built a massive reputation for dismantling traditional music and song and, according to fRoots Magazine, "reshaping it in fascinating ways”.
Edgelarks, who recently performed at All Saints Church in Wokingham, have been described by The Guardian as “subtle, bravely original...a combination of virtuosity, intensity and charisma”.
Organisers are promising that their gig on Monday, November 19, will blend their dazzling musicianship and arresting onstage chemistry.
And the Big Band has an eclectic mix of self-penned material and traditional music rooted in the British Isles and beyond, offering, with the flick of a bow, a finely chosen chord or slip of a beat, richly atmospheric arrangements “with notes seemingly plucked from the stars and rhythms from the equator”.
Their debut album was recorded live at Nettlebed Folk Club and released at Fairport Convention's Cropredy Festival.
The concert starts at 8pm and takes place in the Village Club in Nettlebed’s High Street.
