Appeal makes sense
A WOODLEY school has launched a fundraiser appeal for a new scheme that will benefit its pupils.
Having successfully raised funds for three new minibuses recently, the Addington School Association has set itself an even bigger goal: raising £22,000 for phase one of a new Sensory Garden.
The garden will enrich the learning experience of the school pupils by creating opportunities to develop physical, social and emotional skills through exploration and interaction. Features would include sensory planter sections, a rain tunnel, texture boards and musical instruments.
The Association has set up a
Just Giving page that is central to the campaign: justgiving.com/ campaign/Addington where people can donate, while their Facebook page keeps people up-to date on the latest fundraising events, including the up-coming Christmas Fayre (facebook.com/ Adding ton Association /). The Association are currently appealing for good quality raffle prizes to help support these events, as their stock from the summer has run out.
Yvonne Thrower, Chair and Trustee at the Association, said:
“As you can imagine, the demands of managing a child with severe disabilities is a job in itself, so finding time to raise funds is not easy.
“Being such a small yet close-knit school community, we are heavily reliant on our fundraising work, so we call on all local businesses and people to help us grow our sensory garden and donate to the cause.
“We also have a constant need for new volunteers, and anyone interested in helping us can contact me; we would absolutely love to hear from you.”
