Rhubarb and royalty
Northamptonshire-based Warner Edwards was set up by best friends and farmers tom warner and sion edwards, who were one of the three runners-up in the drinks category of the BBC Food & Farming awards in 2015. Its flavoured gins are outstanding, especially the sweet and Tangy Rhubarb, which is made from cuttings from plants that were grown at buckingham palace during the reign of queen victoria. The most recent release is a limited-edition lemon balm gin called Melissa (after the plant’s latin name melissa officinalis). It’s made with herbaceous plants from the distillery’s own botanical garden, which originally belonged to tom’s mother. Visit warneredwards.com w&h
