15 PUT THE WORLD ON HOLD

It’s OK, it will still be there when you press play again.

STEP OUT OF TIME

Imagine a day when you didn’t check the time, where you weren’t on a constant countdown to one task and then another. Why not give it a go? Hide all the clocks and other time-telling devices in your house for a day, let go of stress and see where the time takes you. ESCAPE TIME 24 HOURS, OR DO IT FOR LONGER IF YOU’RE FEELING BRAVE.

I’M OUT OF THE OFFICE

A recent report from the Future Work Centre warned that the constant stream of emails we receive – especially via our phones – is a major source of stress and emotional exhaustion. Cease boomeranging from one email to the next by setting an “out of the office” message and say you won’t be checking your email until you’re back from holiday. ESCAPE TIME 24 HOURS TO 7 DAYS.

TAKE A NEWS HIATUS

Thanks to rolling news channels and social media, we’re plugged into world events like never before. A 2014 survey from the Harvard School of Public Health found that 25% of people had experienced a “great deal” of stress in the previous month and that a major factor was watching, reading and listening to the news. Try switching off – the world will keep on turning. ESCAPE TIME 24 HOURS. W&H
