You may be desperate to get your hands on tickets to see Adele or to take your husband to see Hamlet, but in today’s techno ticketing world, the old mantra of “be fast or be last” doesn’t always apply. research is crucial.

Is the event officially sold out?

Just because tickets are on secondary sites doesn’t mean the event is sold out. check the event or artist’s website – tickets are often released in tiers. One or two tiers may be sold out, with more to be released. Also, be aware that there’s nothing stopping someone from reselling their ticket at an inflated price while facevalue tickets are still available.

What’s the face value of the

ticket? it helps to know how much you should be paying per ticket. Obviously, the better the seat, the higher the price, but even having a rough ticket price can prevent you accidentally overpaying. Also, check the venue’s seating plan and note the numbers or letters where you’d like to be – or wish to avoid.

Might more shows be added?

theatre productions tend to have specific run dates, but if the show proves to be popular, these are often extended. Search the theatre website to see if another production is due on straight afterwards. if not, and the show is sold out, an extended run is likely, albeit not always with the same cast. if a big artist, say, Katy perry, is playing london’s O2, and has announced shows on the 4th and 6th of March, she’s probably waiting to gauge ticket demand before announcing a third show in between. those big sets have to be stored somewhere otherwise.
