As we head into Oc­to­ber, the game sea­son is in full swing and na­tive veg­eta­bles – kale, cab­bages, cele­riac, squash and pump­kin – are at their best. There are still plenty of de­li­cious eat­ing and cook­ing ap­ples to be had too. For shell­fish lovers, oys­ters and mus­sels are on the menu. For the for­agers, damsons and wild mush­rooms are there for the pick­ing. And look out for Ken­tish cob­nuts, which can be used in the same way as hazel­nuts. De­li­cious dipped in dark cho­co­late.
