THE COMMUTER TOWN
fiona Scott, 51, is a small business consultant. She lives with her husband Steve and their three children, aged 18, 16 and 10, in a four-bed detached house in Swindon, wiltshire. She also has a stepdaughter, who is 24. My HoMe in my head it’s a new-build but we moved here 20 years ago. People in Wiltshire often look down on swindon because it has an industrial heritage and parts aren’t very pretty, but it’s a fantastic place to live. Many of those who live in chocolatebox villages will turn to here when they need something, despite their negative comments.
My work i’ve been running my own consultancy business for 10 years and i look forward to every day.
My CoMMute i do the school run then drive 15 minutes to the office i share with a friend.
My fAvourite plACe a stately home called lydiard Park that has wonderful gardens and puts on concerts. BeSt tHing ABout living Here it has a diverse cultural mix, great theatres, shops, leisure facilities, countryside, classes for everything, job opportunities and transport links. tHe downSide it has a reputation for being average; during elections, pundits always want to know how swindon will vote as a clue to how the uK is thinking! wHAt i do in My downtiMe steve and i go for a walk every day. We’d grown fat and happy together so it was a way to become more active, but it’s morphed into a moment to focus on each other.
