Lipstick is the easiest way to add colour to your face, but embracing a bold lip can be daunting if you’re not used to it. Swap nude for a pinker version, or go for a wash of orange. PRO TIP: Coral marries both warm and cool notes and suits all skin tones.
Bright lipstick dos
Do consider your skin tone compared to the depth of the lip colour. fairer complexions may look a bit washed out with the wrong shade of pink, whereas deeper colours may not pop as much on darker skin. Do start out sheer and then gradually work up to full brightness. try tapping a bolder shade over some clear lipgloss to create more of a subtle stain first. Do prep your lips first, as wearing a brighter colour can be unforgiving if your lips are dry. exfoliate using a gentle scrub or rub your lips with a cotton washcloth. Do experiment with different colours until you find the one. Don’t give up if you don’t find your perfect pink, red or orange on the first try.

Do practice because you’ll need a bit of a steady hand. the trick to making coloured eyeliner work is to keep the line clean and sleek. forget any smudging here. Do try something a little subtler if you’re not keen on ‘proper’ blue. a slightly metallic steel or midnight shade is easier to pull off, or an orange hue blended into the lid is really flattering – especially on tanned skin. Do amp up your mascara by layering a blue colour to the tips of your outer lashes over your usual black mascara. Do invest in an eye primer to prevent your colour from sliding off.
