‘I’ve won £90,210!’

Marilyn Large, 69, from Norwich has recently scooped three impressive cash prizes

Sitting at the airport, waiting for our connecting flight, I couldn’t believe we were finally here, on our way to america.

My husband and I were off to visit his sister. We hadn’t seen her in 15 years and it was only thanks to Woman Bingo that we were on our way. You see, in September 2016 I had an astonishing win on my favourite bingo site, scooping a jackpot of £78,202!

Friends on the site

A regular visitor to the site and a member for 10 years, I knew all the games inside out and I had decided a while ago that my firm favourite was Sapphire Bingo.

I always decide how many tickets to buy based on how much is in my account, so that September night I got 15 tickets, costing 10p each. While I played, my husband sat watching the telly.

Woman Bingo has chat rooms that run alongside the games and as such a long-standing member, I’ve got loads of friends on the site now. We were chatting away, with some people telling each other how many numbers they were waiting on, for example ‘two to go’.

As the games rolled on, the Progressive Jackpot continued to mount in the corner of the screen. It had gone up hugely, past £50,000.

All of a sudden, I noticed now I only had two numbers to go myself. To my surprise, the final numbers I was waiting for were called… The jackpot was mine. All £78,202 of it!

I was so speechless and shocked that I dropped my laptop. Calling out to my husband, I could hardly get the words out to tell him the good news. ‘I’ve won £78,202,’ I stuttered. It was such an incredible amount of money – lifechanging in fact – that the news didn’t settle in for a while.

When I could eventually get my laptop working and I logged back in to my account, the other members asked where I had been. They had spent two hours congratulating me while I tried to get my laptop working again! There was no question about it, we were going to America with the money. My jackpot win meant that we could visit my sister-in-law and spend some quality time with her.

Back home, I treated my seven children, my 17 grandchildren and my seven great-grandchildren to some money of their own. It was great being able to help them out and I was even able to give my eldest son some money towards his wedding in November.

Aged 50, he had to wait a while to meet his partner, but she’s truly his soul mate and it was wonderful being able to give them a helping hand.

Another great surprise

I also bought myself some new furniture for the bungalow I live in. Choosing new things for the house was a real treat. I was also able to splash out on a new car and then put the rest of the money into savings for the future.

Feeling very lucky and thankful that I could treat my loved ones, imagine my surprise when I hit another big jackpot in January this year.

I was playing Sapphire bingo and that night I got myself 50 tickets before sitting down ready to play. Having won my £78,202 just a few months before and another £1,000 full house jackpot in September, I was never expecting another jackpot win quite so soon…

Nevertheless, not long after my numbers came up, another windfall came my way. This time, I won £11,008!

I had to get my husband to check the screen again as I was in a state of disbelief. ‘I don’t know how you do it!’ he joked.

I had won £90,210 in the space of a few months, it was incredible! And soon I told my family my very latest good news – they all chuckled, laughing at how on earth I’d hit the jackpot twice in such a short space of time! I couldn’t believe it but sure enough, within a few days the money was in my account. Treating my family – including spending more time with my mum, who is 91 – has been the most wonderful way to spend my winnings. Although, it still does makes me chuckle that I had to pay to get my laptop repaired as a result of hitting the jackpot!
