Actress Sally Lindsay reveals the challenges of motherhood...

Sally Lindsay has rarely been off our screens since she starred as

Coronation Street’s Shelley Unwin, going on to land roles in Mount

Pleasant and Scott & Bailey. But off screen, Sally, 44, lives with her husband Steve white and seven-yearold twin sons, Victor and Louie. Here, she reveals all about Corrie, motherhood - and why she’s always mistaken for another famous face!

‘Being a mum is ace, it’s the best thing I’ve ever done, but it’s rock hard as well.

You’re making it up every day because you don’t really know what you’re doing, but then you do. I’ve got brilliant kids, I’m so lucky. They’re really funny little boys. They’re best friends one minute and then hate each other the next!’

‘Steve and I do the parenting together – we do it 50-50.

Steve’ll not work one week and I’ll not work another, but we manage to get round it. We’ll have a diary check every Friday – it’s organisation!’

‘women want to watch women who look like them - not this unachievable look. Because on telly, you’re a stone heavier than you are in real life, but I’ve a belief that I am who I am, and that’s it.

‘I’ve noticed I don’t pick as much at food now as I’m a terrible picker, especially when I’m writing. And because I’ve got seven-year-old boys , it’s terrible – like no-one will notice if I have another bit of Easter egg! Instead, I’ve started putting more fibre in our diets recently, using brown pasta, rice and bread. It does genuinely keep you fuller for longer.’

‘I get mistaken for Jo Joyner all the time and I don’t know why! When we go to awards, they’ll see my eyebrows and my face and I’ll go over to sign something, and they’ll go, “Oh, you’re not Jo Joyner!” and she’s had it the other way round.’

‘I’d never go back to Corrie. There’s no need to really, is there? I loved it, it was brilliant, but I did it, and I did it really well, but it was a long time ago. I probably would’ve gone back by now.’
