Pot herbs

-

Herbs do well in containers. Make sure the compost is free draining by using a soil-based compost. Permanent pots of sage, rosemary, chives and thyme grow happily together in a sheltered, sunny spot. Trim them lightly now and water during dry spells. If perennials, such as marjoram and mint, look tired, cut back to the base to promote fresh growth. Sow other culinary herbs, like basil, coriander and parsley, directly into pots of compost for fresh leaves in autumn.
