SHARON ‘I FEAR FOR TEENAGERS’

-

Sharon, 71, has been open about how Ozempic has aided her weight loss. The Celebrity Big

Brother star lost 3st after she started on the drug in November 2022, admitting that ‘everybody was doing it’. She said, ‘It’s advertised on TV in the US and claims 15lb weight loss, so doctors started prescribing it to their overweight patients. I was 142lb [10st 2lb] when I started using it. I’ve always been anything up to 40 or 50lb overweight. I’d lose it and then put it back on within two months and the going back and forth was frustrating.’

Feeling nauseous

But after she experienced side effects and her weight plummeted to 6st 13lb, she warned others against it. ‘For the first two or three weeks I felt very nauseous. The nausea went away, but once you’re on it you don’t feel hungry and you don’t eat,’ she said. ‘It’s not talked about but you can get a blockage in your bowel. So many people have gone on Ozempic for weight loss but I think I’m the only person who’s been honest about it.’ The former X Factor judge urged youngsters especiallyto stay away from the drug, saying, ‘I fear for teenagers… I’m scared for those aged 16 to 20 as it’s so easy to take itand think, “I can eat what I want.” It needs to be in the hands of only people who totally understand it.’ While she’s no longer using the drug, Sharon now struggles to gain weight, admitting, ‘I could do with putting on a few pounds, but my body isn’t listening.’

Ozzy’s warning

She also revealed that her husband Ozzy, 75, is scared that ‘something is going to happen to me’ following her drastic weight loss. ‘He doesn’t like it. He’s always thinking about the downside and thinks it’s too good to be true,’ she said.

And Sharon isn’t the only star who has spoken out against the drug’s use for weight loss. Hearing that it dampens appetite, actor Kate Winslet, 48, said, ‘This sounds terrible,’ before adding, ‘Let’s eat some more things!’
