Poldark: Stunts, love and stripping off
The wait is finally over, Poldark is returning to our screens this week and this series promises to bring more action and drama than ever before! Here, the show’s star, Aidan Turner, 33, tells us more…
Where do we find Ross in series three? There’s the feeling that Ross and Demelza have already had the discussion, the arguments and the plates have been thrown. They are in a place where there’s a huge possibility that Ross could be the father of Elizabeth’s baby. It’s a delicate situation and I guess it’s the waiting game, to see whether he’s the daddy!
Do you think he’s better suited to military life than home life? I think so, I think he’s better at making decisions on the battle field than involving love or children. He’s not happy unless he’s living on the edge a little bit, I think he’s addicted to that.
Are there lots of stunts? I broke my hand! It was a lot of fun, running around in the woods with guns, jumping on boats – action is fun to do. In the new series, Dwight’s in prison so Ross has to go and bust him out. It’s like a war movie in the middle of the series.
When did you realise Poldark was a hit? I knew when we started making it that there was quality in it. Then it came out and the audience really reacted to it. It was exceptional.
So much has been made of your topless scenes… I’ve done it in nearly every job, I insist! It was really hot that day and it would have been more weird to keep my shirt on!
Will there be a series four? We start filming series four in September!
