A bust-up that went viral

-

Wanting a hen do to remember, future bride Kelly Lloyd, 30, couldn’t think of a better way to mark the end of single life than with a champagne-filled girls holiday to Spain with her closest pals. But the party will be remembered for all the wrong reasons, after Kelly and her chief bridesmaid, Katrina Hanafin, 33, ended up having a bust-up 30,000ft in the air. The pair became close friends six years ago after their children started at the same school in Carnforth, Lancs. So when Kelly got engaged to Lee Brannan, 34, she didn’t hesitate to ask Katrina to be part of her big day. Kelly excitedly planned a holiday for her and six friends to the Lloret de Mar resort on the Costa Brava and turned up at Manchester airport in a flowing veil and a slick of bright pink lipstick.

But her carefully laid plans quickly unravelled within an hour of taking off, when the celebrations descended into a mid-air scrap with her chief bridesmaid. CCTV footage shows the brawl beginning as two members of the group start fighting before the bride-to-be joins in.

After staff waded in, Katrina spent the night at Barcelona airport before flying back to the UK, where she made an official complaint to police. Kelly and the other hens travelled on to the hotel as planned. But the fall-out didn’t end there. To her horror, when Kelly arrived back home she found out the footage of the mid-air brawl had gone viral.

With their friendship shattered, Katrina stood down as chief bridesmaid and didn’t attend the wedding, which is believed to have taken place a month later.
