Travel: Take the family to Great Yarmouth

Located on the Norfolk coast, Hemsby Beach Holiday Park has everything you need for a fun-filled family outing

-

Let’s go!

You don’t have to jump on a plane and travel halfway round the world to experience that oh-so-important family trip. Some of the best-hidden gems are right here in the UK, and more and more holidaymakers are choosing a staycation over expensive trips abroad. Hemsby Beach Holiday Park, located a few miles from Great Yarmouth on the Norfolk coast, is the perfect choice for those families looking for that traditional seaside break, but with modern accommodation, an entertainment complex and other on-site activities that can entertain the whole family.

Lap of luxury

The park itself has recently undergone a whopping £10 million investment, with the addition of 300 new lodges, so there’s lots to choose from, whatever the shape and size of your party. The new Platinum Lodge Spas come with bells and whistles, including full-sized double bedrooms, large family rooms with twin beds, and huge kitchen and lounge areas, giving the family plenty of space to relax in. There’s lots of cosy extras too, including a flat-screen TV with Freeview, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a microwave, crockery, cutlery, pans, a clothes airer and plenty of storage for those beach towels!

Go active!

The standout at Hemsby is the impressive choice of organised activities for the kids. Go Active is a programme of supervised sessions that lets children try all sorts of new things, from balance bikes to body zorbing. During the day, you’ll find plenty of free activities — Wild, Wild West and Pirates Paradise sessions for kids, as well as biscuit decorating, pebble painting, pool and even a children’s darts competition will keep you busy.

If you fancy some time away from the

kids, there’s a play area just outside The Quarterdeck Restaurant. While the kids play, you can take five and have a drink.

You’ll also find paid-for activities including bike hire, go-kart hire, crazy golf, pool, darts, air hockey, a fitness room and a solarium.

Energy boost!

You’ll need to keep those energy levels topped up, and there are two places to eat at the park. The Quarterdeck Restaurant is a fairly traditional dining area, just off the main bar, that serves a good variety of standard pub grub. At the opposite end of the park, close to the pool and most of the activities, is a cafe bar serving classic fish and chips if you fancy a bite on the go.
