‘You don’t have to drink or eat anything special, but you may be given steroid or anti-sickness treatment prior to chemo,’ says Dr Chetiyawar­dana. ‘On the day, a nurse will usually need to check your blood counts.’ It’s also important to bring any medication­s or vitamins you’re taking. ‘This is to check it won’t interact with your treatment,’ adds Dr Gall. ‘Post-chemo, you may experience dry skin and a sore mouth, which should go away after a few weeks,’ says Dr Gall. ‘Painkiller­s and specialist mouthwashe­s can help.’ session, so get lots of rest and take anti-sickness medicine provided by your care team,’ says Dr Gall. ‘You may feel better eating small meals often rather than three large meals a day.’
