She has cancer

-

QMy sister (54) has recently been diagnosed with cancer. It’s serious, and she has to undergo surgery and chemo. Her husband is wonderful, but they have decided not to tell their children. One is abroad and the other 200 miles away with a new baby. Both kids are in their late 20s and could cope. I know how my kids would feel if I did this and want to push her on this.

It sounds like your sister isn’t ready to tell her children, and this is her choice. It could be down to the stress and pressure of having them upset while so far away or generally because she hasn’t come to terms with it yet. Whatever her reason, you need to put your feelings aside and support her decision and be ready to help when she does tell them.
