I hate my grandson’s name

-

QI have just become a granny for the first time, and am in love with my grandson. The only issue is his name. My daughter-in-law has given him a made-up name that she loves. It’s so bad that I’d rather call him by a nickname, than say it. Should I say something?

Baby names are often divisive so suggesting a nickname is likely to make this situation worse. As much as you hate the name, over time you will

Aassociate it with the grandson you adore, so it won’t irritate as much. Until then avoid saying it by calling him a host of affectionate names but steer clear of offering your opinion on it.
