Don’t fancy flying at the moment? Try these UK destinations loved by celebs

-

THE COTSWOLDS

The Cotswolds has become a hotspot for young, trendy celebs, thanks to the luxurious Soho Farmhouse members’ club, set over 100 acres of countryside near Chipping Norton. Meghan Markle (above) had her hen do there, and Frankie and Wayne Bridge (below) are regular visitors.

CORNWALL

A favoured UK destination for celebs is Cornwall, with its stunning beaches, warm weather and surfing opportunities. Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay (left) and his family have been staying in their holiday home there throughout lockdown. Nadia Sawalha (right) has recently professed her love for it, saying she wants to have her and husband Mark’s ‘sober’ wedding vow renewals in Cornwall, and Fern Britton (far right) has written a number of novels set there.

BERKSHIRE

George and Amal Clooney love Berkshire so much that they bought a house in Sonning-onthames and honeymooned there after their lavish Venice wedding in 2014. But while few of us can afford to buy a mansion like theirs, the little village has some lovely Airbnb properties available along the river – and you may even bump into the Clooneys!

SUFFOLK

Musician Tom Fletcher and wife Giovanna took their two boys, Buzz and Buddy, to Suffolk for a New Year break in 2017, before welcoming Max in 2018. They proved it’s a great place to take the kids, as they took the opportunity to visit a film location for Godric’s Hollow (in the Harry Potter films) in the village of Lavenham.

LAKE DISTRICT

Even models don’t always go abroad on holiday. Twiggy has enthused about the Lake District, saying it’s her ‘favourite place in Britain’, and she loves going for hikes in the hills. She said, ‘You can see why some of Britain’s greatest poets, such as Wordsworth, loved it so much. It’s breathtakingly beautiful.’

BLACKPOOL

He may have moved to LA, but Robbie Williams is still a true northerner at heart and a big fan of Blackpool. In fact, he loves going there so much, he took his American wife Ayda Field in 2010 – joking it was for their honeymoon! At the time he said, ‘She has been on the Pleasure Beach, she has had some chips, she is loving it.’

SKEGNESS

Coleen Rooney is well-known for her holidays, often taking up to five a year – usually to Barbados. But she still loves a UK trip, even taking her sons, Kai and Klay, to Butlin’s in Skegness in 2015. At the time, she wrote, ‘Great weekend at Butlin’s, reliving my childhood. The boys loved it, especially the entertainment!’
