How do you take your tea?

Semi-skimmed or full-fat milk and no sugar with English Breakfast or PG Tips. I don’t go for Earl Grey – it’s like normal tea with a spoon of talcum powder.

Who would you most like to have a cup of tea with?

My parents, Theresa and Jim, who are no longer with us. We’d put the world to rights, accompanied by Viscount biscuits and a soundtrack of dance band music by Charlie Kunz.

What would you choose for your last meal?

I’d have 30 roast potatoes, battered spam, chocolate eclairs and a single malt. A wonderful closing rebellion to eat the least healthy things possible.

What did you want to be when you were little?

Jon Pertwee was my Doctor Who, then Tom Baker. I always used to mimic them, but I’d mimic the monsters more. Mum had this plastic custard jug which, if you talked into it, gave you the perfect sound of a Dalek.

Tell us about your new tour.

The Great British Take Off is a night of unscripted comedy, impersonation and conversation. Donald Trump is one of the people I imitate that I’d most like to meet… to see how petulant and taunt-able he really is!

If you could have anyone’s voice, whose would you choose?

Someone with a nice resonant tone: Richard Burton, Jon Pertwee... Or Paul O’Grady – his voice puts you instantly into a happy mood!
