6 Ways To Protect Your Eyes
1 Eat a healthy diet with a rainbow of fruit and veg for vitamins A, C and E.
2 Don’t smoke – visit nhs.uk if you need help to stop.
3 Never look at the sun. Wear wraparound sunglasses (with CE mark/ BS EN 1836:2005) to protect eyes and delicate surrounding skin from ultraviolet light.
4 Wear safety glasses when doing gardening, DIY, sport or work that could cause an eye injury (from branches, debris, squash balls, cycling or chemicals).
5 Blink deliberately and regularly when looking at the TV/computer, and take regular breaks.
6 Have eye tests every other year (more often if you’re over 70 or have an eye condition/ diabetes). They’re free if you have diabetes or glaucoma (and after the age of 40 if a close relative has glaucoma). Check also that you meet DVLA regulations for safe driving.
