With 2.75mm needles and navy yarn, cast on 79 sts. 1st rib row: K1, [p1, k1] to end. 2nd rib row: P1, [k1, p1] to end. last 2 rows form rib. rib another 8 rows. ** join in lime and beginning with a k row, ss 2 rows. ss another 64 rows, working in stripe sequence of 6 rows in red, 2 rows in lime, 6 rows in navy and 2 rows in lime. continuing stripe sequence, ss another 11 rows, ending with the 3rd navy row and with wrong side facing. join in lime at this edge, leaving navy still attached. *** Divide for heel: 1st row:

P40 and turn.

* 2nd and 3rd rows: K38, wrap 1, turn. P36, wrap 1, turn.

4th and 5th rows: K35, wrap 1, turn. P34, wrap 1, turn.

6th and 7th rows: K33 wrap 1, turn. P32, wrap 1, turn.

Work 18 rows more as set, working 1 st less before the wrap on every row, ending with p14, wrap 1, turn.

26th and 27th rows: K14, wrap 1 (you will now have two wraps around this stitch), turn. P14, wrap 1 (you will now have two wraps around this stitch), turn.

28th row: K14, pick up the two wrapped loops of yarn from around the next stitch, place them on the left needle and work them both together with the next stitch, wrap 1, turn. As you work over all of the following double-wrapped stitches, work each of them together with their wraps.

29th row: P16, wrap 1, turn.

30th and 31st rows: K17, wrap 1, turn. P18, wrap 1, turn. Work 16 rows more as set, working 1 st more before the wrap on every row, ending with p34, wrap 1, turn.

48th and 49th rows: K35, wrap 1, turn. P36, wrap 1, turn. *

50th row: K to end. *** break off lime and using navy, p 1 row.

rest of foot: beginning with a k row and starting stripe sequence after 4th navy row, ss 58 rows, finishing with 6 red rows and 2 lime rows. break off red and continue in lime only.

**** Divide for toe: K39 and slip these sts onto a st holder. Working on remaining 40 sts, work 2nd to 49th rows as given for heel from * to *.

50th row: K to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 – 39 sts. hold these remaining 39 sts with the sts from toe st holder with right sides together and taking 1 st from each side and working them together, cast off toe sts. if you prefer, you can graft the two sets of sts together using Kitchener stitch.

To make up

join the side seam using a mattress stitch.
