The hedgehogs hiding in our parks
With urban numbers affected by increasing development, any sightings of these adorable mammals in our suburban gardens and city parks are precious. In London, sightings are rare, but Regent’s Park is home to 30-40 animals, with a dedicated team to ensure there are sufficient patches of cover for hedgehogs. Many UK stately homes have become havens for rescued hedgehogs – Chatsworth House and Blenheim Palace both support growing populations.
DID YOU KNOW? Hedgehogs each have between 5,0007,000 spines.
