Our pick of the best luxury wellness holidays

WHERE? Canaves Oia Suites, Santorini WHY? To unwind in paradise HOW MUCH? £600 a night for a junior suite with private jacuzzi, based on two people sharing, inclusive of champagne breakfast; canaves.com

Google the words ‘most beautiful travel destinations’ and it’s quite likely, if not absolutely guaranteed, that the Greek island of Santorini will appear somewhere on the list. And that’s down to three things: the jaw-dropping colours of the island (vibrant blues against a backdrop of brighter-than-bright whites); the even-morejaw-dropping views (ocean vista from the comfort of your infinity pool? Don’t mind if we do); and the fact that you can nip to the clifftop village of Oia and watch the sun literally dip into the Aegean Sea at sunset (people have been known to applaud). Speaking of Oia, this little island tip is home to the whitewashed retreat Canaves Oia Suites, which, really, is the best place to soak up all that Santorini has to offer. Assuming sun-drenched serenity is your thing (you’re in Santorini, so it would be a little weird if it wasn’t), that infinity pool business is yours for the taking. In the pool, beside the pool – wherever you lounge, you’ll be replenished by the sheer beauty of the caldera below. If you can bear to peel yourself away from the views, slope off to the hotel’s Petra restaurant for some of the most delicious healthy food you’re likely to savour. Luxury is the order of the day here, so expect to see beef carpaccio or fresh lobster gracing the menu. Fish not your thing? There are all kinds of Greek and Mediterranean dishes on offer and every dietary requirement is taken care of. All that pool-lounging and food-devouring can really take it out of you, so it’s pretty handy that there’s an on-site spa to coax you back to firing on all cylinders. Facials, deep tissue massages, Elemis treatments – it’s all here. Try the Terra Sigillata therapy, which is where three mineral muds are slathered on to your body – you know, to help you feel like your best self. The resort also offers excursions and cruises so you can enjoy the deep blue of the Aegean Sea up close and personal – but let’s be real: with all this on-site wellness to be enjoyed, you’re not going anywhere, are you?
