Think of parting ways with diet drinks like that awful break-up with your shitty ex. ‘You’ll feel like you’re missing something, but it’s not because you don’t have something you need – it’s because you created a space for something that’s not there any more,’ adds Professor Ogden. Wise words.

REPLACE

Going cold turkey sounds noble, but, for sustainabl­e change, you need to fill that gap with something else – and tap water may not suffice. ‘Infuse a jug of sparkling water with cucumber and mint,’ says Miller. Straws at the ready.
