‘DROPPING ACID HAS MADE MY MIND AND BODY STRONGER’

‘I take between 10 and 20 micrograms of LSD twice a week, and it’s helping me finally find balance. I’m a pretty efficient person and, at work, I’ve always got a lot done in a short space of time. But when microdosin­g, I’m able to think more clearly and prioritise the important goals – and I don’t get overwhelme­d by all my other tasks. But, unlike some of the relentless­ly ambitious tech workers in San Francisco, where I’m from, I don’t do it to further my career or make more money. I microdose because it helps me appreciate my life more. I suffer with anxiety and depression, and negative thought spirals have caused me to sabotage relationsh­ips with ex-boyfriends and left me too scared to turn up to parties. But when I’m microdosin­g, I feel like I do following a session with a really good therapist. I’m more aware of what I need and my body helps me achieve it; the disconnect that has existed between my brain and body since having an eating disorder in my teens has dissolved. I’ve started doing sprint training, where before my running was more slow and steady, and at the gym I squat way past the point where I’d have given up previously. But it’s not because I feel like I should; I have this awareness that I like myself – and this body I inhabit – and I want to do what makes me feel my best.’
