WHAT? Time To Log Off Retreat WHERE? Puglia, Italy
WHY? To cut obsessive ties with your devices and chill
HOW MUCH? Prices start at £795 for five nights
So, like, no contact with the outside world at all? Calm down, we’re not suggesting you go off-grid altogether. Yes, you do hand over your phone in a ceremonious purging on the first night (gah!), but the luxury farmhouse has a landline to check in with your partner/kids/ mum should you need to. And chances are you’ll be otherwise engaged with all the wonderful things you can actually enjoy after being unplugged from your devices. Try these: cycle rides to local medieval villages, being taught how to make fresh pasta, sketching on the terrace or lounging next to the farmhouse’s gorgeous pool. I take it there are other humans to talk to? If you’re into that kind of thing, sure. The retreat is hosted by Tanya Goodin, author of Off: Your Digital Detox For A Better Life (her presence is so gentle she makes David Attenborough seem fiery), who’s on hand for the duration of your five-night stay. There are 11 twin or double rooms in the farmhouse so you’ll be staying with multiple guests, all of whom will be in the same boat, so the chance to have actual face-to-face conversations is yours for the taking – or just enjoy the feeling of a clear mind without the constant chatter of your socials. And the setting is holidayworthy? If 20 acres of land set in olive, fig and cherry groves and warm Italian sunshine don’t do it for you, then we wash our hands of you. The farmhouse is yours to call home and you’ll tuck into delicious plant-based meals cooked from scratch by the chef. Food highlight? The aubergine fritters with beetroot hummus are deffo worth posting on Instagram.
