MILLIE’S LITTLE BLACK BOOK OF WELLNESS
Ms Mackintosh knows what works for her and – lucky for you – is only too happy to pass on her insider tips
If I’m breaking out… –
I head to my favourite facialist, Dr Frances Prenna Jones (drfrances prennajones.com), who will do an extraction followed by a light peel, which always helps clear my skin. Recently, I tried a collagen wave facial – where Frances used a machine to give my face a firm massage using an electronic current, which really plumps up the skin.
For red-carpetready hair…
–
I visit my hairdresser for a Kerastase prescribed masque (kerastase.co.uk). It’s a nourishing leave-in formula that lasts for a couple of washes. Your stylist prescribes the right mix for you based on the two main needs of your hair – say, anti-breakage and anti-frizz.
Before a photo shoot…
–
I book a lymphatic drainage massage to smooth my skin and help flush out toxins. When I’m at home in London, I book through the beauty concierge app, Ruuby (ruuby.com). When in Paris, I grab an appointment with the amazing Patricia Mondargan (patricia mondargan.com).
My go-to supplement…
–
Lumity (£90, lumitylife.co.uk). I don’t like taking multiple tablets, and this one has all the vitamins and amino acids I need to keep my skin, hair, bones and nails healthy. It’s been two months since I began taking them and my nails feel really strong.
If I need to chill…
–
I love the flow and restore yoga classes at Heartcore (heartcore.co.uk) in West London.
The studio has a great vibe and this class gives you the satisfying burn from dynamic flow before allowing plenty of time to get a nice, long stretch in all the yin poses afterwards.
When I want to really sweat…
–
I love doing spin at Heartcore and 1Rebel (1rebel.co.uk). When I first did a Barry’s Bootcamp class, I thought I was going to fall flat on my face during the sprint intervals. I’ve never been much of a runner, but it’s satisfying to feel myself improving.
If I feel a little off… –
I pay a visit to my acupuncturist Maire Weaver (acupuncturecures. co.uk). I love how relaxing the process is – and how it seems to get me back in balance, whether my sleep patterns have been out of whack, I’ve had a skin flare-up or I’m dealing with back pain.
For a healthy dinner…
–
There’s a great Vietnamese place on Kensington Church Street called Tem Tép – the food is so full of fresh, clean flavours.
The broth comes served with lots of noodles, shredded chicken and fresh chilli on the side
– it’s like buildyour-own ramen.
When my skin needs some extra moisture…
–
I love Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 Masque (£55, skinceuticals. co.uk) – there’s just something really calming about the scent. Or Lancôme Advanced Genefique Hydrogel Melting Mask (£13.20, Boots).
When I’m shopping for activewear...
–
My first stop is Varley (varley.com). It does really good cuts and the prints are my vibe – a good mix of fashion and functionality. I love P.E Nation (pe-nation.com) leggings, too. I spend a lot of time in activewear – so it needs to pair well with a leather jacket and Converse.
