Bought for 15m from Lille this summer, the 24-year-old native of the northern city of Troyes was heavily linked with Arsenal, but he turned them down after concluding that he risked too many games on the bench at the Emirates.

He perfectly fits the profile of the modern full-back: adventurous, quick, a good user of the ball and rugged and tenacious defensively. Used to be known as “The Tortoise’ due to his poor heading.
