Jonatan SORIANO
It’s hard to overstate the importance of the Spanish centre-forward to the perennial Austrian champions. Besides duties as skipper, standardbearer and spokesman, the 30-yearold Catalan is also their guarantee of end-product, netting an amazing 164 goals in 188 competitive matches.
During his four full seasons with the side he has averaged 27 league goals a season, and last term he became the highest-ever foreign marksman in the competition.
Unusual for these mercenary days, he has not used Salzburg as a platform for bigger things, admitting he prefers the main-man role at a domestically dominant club to a midtable spot in a more glamourous side.
