BIRI BIRI (1948-2020)

Winger who is regarded by many as the greatest Gambian player of all time, he was the first black player to play for Sevilla.

MARIO CORSO (1941-2020)

A key member of the Internazio­nale side that won two European Cups, four Scudetti and two Interconti­nental Cups, the left winger played 509 games for Inter between195­7 and1973, and later served as club coach. Capped 23 times by Italy, he was nicknamed “God’s Left Foot”.

ALEX DAWSON (1940-2020)

Born in Aberdeen, he was a trainee at Manchester United under Matt Busby and scored in United’s first game after the Munich air disaster. He later went on to score more than100 goals for Preston.

KOSSI KOUDAGBA (1995-2020)

Togo striker who passed away not long after helping his country qualify for the now postponed African Nations Championsh­ip. Had been the domestic league’s top scorer for two successive seasons at ASCK.

ARDICO MAGNINI (1928-2020)

Serie A winner with Fiorentina in1956, the defender made 20 appearance­s for Italy and played two games at the 1954 World Cup.

EMEKA MAMALE (1977-2020)

Midfielder who helped DR Congo to third place at the1998 Africa Cup of Nations. A nomadic career saw him enjoy spells in South Korea, South Africa and Belgium.

SILVIO MARZOLINI (1940-2020)

Recognised as the best Argentinia­n left-back of all time, he played at the 1962 and1966 World Cups. He won five league titles as a player with Boca Juniors and a further league championsh­ip with the club as coach.

AHMED RADHI (1964-2020)

Iraq’s second-highest scorer of all time with 62 goals in121 internatio­nals, he scored his country’s one and only

World Cup goal, against Belgium in 1986. Was voted Asian Player of the Year in1988.

VLADIMIR SALKOV (1937-2020)

Won the Soviet Cup twice as a defender with Shakhtar Donetsk and later coached the side to victory in the Ukrainian Cup. Led the national teams of the USSR and Uzbekistan.

WIM SUURBIER (1945-2020)

A member of the Ajax side that won three successive European Cups, from1971 to1973, and seven Eredivisie titles. A right-back, he was capped 60 times by the Netherland­s and was a World Cup runner-up in1974.

LAJOS SZUCS (1943-2020)

Hungarian Footballer of the Year in 1976, he won a gold medal at the 1968 Olympics and a silver medal at the1972 Games. Played for Ferencvaro­s and Honved, and won 37 caps for his country – including playing at Euro1972.
