This top-of-the-range sextant comes in two types: split view or ‘Allview’. They both feature a lovely hardwood handle that is very comfortable. You may find a metal handle version, second-hand.
If money is no object, these are great sextants to own and use. However, the weight is on the high size, so it can end up feeling heavy after a while.
One key advantage of this range is the ability to place the sextant in its box, still with the arc set for the sight you’ve just taken. It means the sextant can be stowed while working out the sight. If it doesn’t make sense, you can check the sextant reading again.
