Beer bartering

We enjoyed the article about anchoring (YM, May 2020). We have found the best equipment to help with a fouled anchor is two bottles of beer.

After anchoring overnight in the Faro Channel in the Formosa Lagoon, we raised the anchor to find four old lobster pots firmly attached. The anchor winch could not lift the pots much above the water so we could not deal with the problem from on board. As we were about to lower the dinghy, a fishing boat went by. We called them over, and pointed out our problem. We handed over a sharp knife and they cut the pots loose. We
