TIDES
Tidal rise and fall is about 3.5 metres at springs.
The tide runs at one to two knots in the Sound of Mull, strongest around the southeastern entrance. Between Lady’s Rock and Lismore it can reach 4 knots at springs, and in wind-over-tide conditions it can be rough there. In the Sound of Iona the tide reaches 2.5 knots. Elsewhere round Mull the streams are not significant, but among the islands to the south, between Oban and Crinan, they are very strong indeed.
