An extra large Pink Gin

-

One of the most exciting superyachts in recent years was launched in Finland in

July. Pink Gin VI is the biggest carbon fibre sloop ever built and was launched at Baltic Yachts for the yard’s majority shareholder, German businessman Professor Hans Georg Näder, who has owned a string of Baltic-built yachts bearing the Pink Gin name.

Pink Gin VI is designed by Judel/vrolijk and incorporates some radical new ideas from a company keen to intensify their reputation for innovation. Among them are a remote electronic steering system that learns and recognises individual helmsmen’s steering styles, mimics lifelike rudder feedback and can guide the driver to optimum efficiency.

Other unique features of this huge and powerful yacht are two large topsides openings that fold out to form platforms or balconies, one for the owner’s suite forward and the other for a lobby into the saloon. Gurit Composite Engineering in the UK were key to getting the engineering right to allow for such large hull apertures in a structure subject to high keel and mast loads.

The interior of the yacht is said to be unusual and spectacular, but is to be kept secret until an unveiling at the Monaco Yacht Show in September.

We will have a full feature on the extraordinary Pink Gin VI in our Supersail magazine, free with the next issue.
