AUTUMN BOAT SHOW PREVIEW SPECIAL

Four new Hanses

-

Hanse shows no sign of slowing the pace of its new yacht development with the announcement that it will be showing four new sailing models at this autumn's boat shows. The unveiling of a new mid-size fleet, which includes the 348, 388, 418 and 548, comes after the company launched its two largest current models (the 588 and 675) only last year.

The largest of the new mid-size models, the 548, which is nominated for European Yacht of the Year 2018, has an entirely new hull and deck design, while the three smaller models have new decks, rigs and keels. A significant change is the move from T-keels to L-shape keels. Designers Judel/vrolijk felt the shape to be more efficient and effective for this size of cruising yacht. In future, the entire Hanse range, with the exception of the performance versions of the larger models, will be designed with L-shape keels. The models launching this autumn also have slightly taller rigs than past Hanse models.

The new models follow the lead of the 588 and 675, allowing more natural light down below through hull and deck portlights, for example. The 548 in particular includes similar options to the 588, such as a hard top bimini, cockpit wetbar and a second forestay.

Hanse has implemented the same quality of interior finish and furnishings right down its range. The 548 boasts a tender garage and, by stealing space from the starboard aft cabin, the port cabin looks enormous – nearly as large as the forward master cabin.
