She bought the 5,052 sq ft house 20 years ago and says:
“We were moving from London to Yorkshire and this house had everything we wanted. It is a beautiful period property that also has a lovely, happy feel.
“The location is amazing because you are surrounded by countryside and parkland but you aren’t cut off because Helmsley has fantastic amenities, including shops, places to eat, a doctor’s surgery and an arts centre.
“Another main reason for buying here was that it is close to Ampleforth College, where my son was boarding,” says Debbie, who has refurbished the house and used her interior design skills to create a beautiful but relaxed home.
“I have put my heart and soul into it and I was hands-on, including making the curtains, which is something I really enjoy doing,” she says.
She is selling to relocate closer to family and friends back in London, but adds: “I will miss the house and the lovely gardens, which are walled and incredibly quiet.”
