Sellers are on a high over price increases

-

The latest Home.co.uk asking price index shows Yorkshire home sellers full of confidence post lockdown. Our story below reveals that asking prices in the region have risen higher here than anywhere else, though Yorkshire is still the second least expensive place to buy in England with an average asking price of £207,617. Only the North East beats us on affordability with an average price of £163,447.

That should be a clarion call to businesses looking to relocate. Two of England’s most beautiful regions boasting great cities, coast and countryside where a reasonable percentage of firsttime buyers can just about afford a home of their own.

Average price doesn’t mean all and those planning to “emigrate” here from London and the South East may be shocked to see some of the eye-watering property values in Golden Triangle hotspots, such as Harrogate, Ilkley and York, and in the sought-after rural suburbs of Sheffield.

With that in mind we have some tips for peers and for civil servants who may be moving to York if the Government’s bid to build a new House of Lords in our beautiful medieval city is successful.

Getting in and out of the city centre is a big consideration for anyone who works or plans to work in central York. Roads in and out are congested, there is not enough parking and what little there is costs a fortune.

However, York has a number of park and ride schemes, which have cut emissions and made travelling to work easier.
