Embracing Instagram and the not so perfect

-

There is no shortage of would-be buyers for the home of Leedsbased Instagram star Katie Woods and no wonder.

It is gorgeous, as her thousands of Insta followers are already aware. We feature the story behind the house in this weekend’s Property Post.

If you are an interior design enthusiast, I would urge you to log on to Instagram as it is full of ideas and people who are happy to give advice.

That is why Katie joined in 2017 and why I often visit what is, generally, a helpful and kind community of fellow property and interiors addicts.

Katie’s account is comedowntothewoods and she also has a blog comedowntothewoods.com.

Among the other excellent Yorkshire-based Insta accounts I follow are jackdmarch; lifestylelocations; am_cdesign and makingspacesnet and there are many, many more.

While scrolling through gorgeous pictures can give you house envy, Katie Woods is quick to point out that most shots are styled and are not always representative of what is going on in the rest of the house.

She cheerfully admits that her own home, which houses four young children and a large dog, is often chaotic and is not picture perfect everywhere.

That is good to hear as homes that are immaculate at all times are not generally comfortable. As the late Min Hogg, former editor of World of Interiors, said: “Live in a tip, it’s much more fun.”
