Leisure Park plan boost for Hornsea
East Yorkshire’s Hornsea Leisure Park has been given the green light to expand its existing holiday park in a potential boost to the local economy.
Submitted with support from Savills, the unanimously approved plans from Shorewood Leisure Group will see 154 additional static pitches for caravan and lodge development, while a new residents’ club with bar will also be created along with a children’s play area. A new park manager’s home, storage shed and additional car parking are also part of the approved plans.
This development, underpinned by sustainable growth, follows a recent statement by Robert Jenrick, the minister for Housing, Communities and Local Government, in which he said the Government recognises that the tourism industry will need to be able to adapt to secure its financial future and continue delivering benefits to the wider economy.
It is estimated that the expansion will create 12 jobs, with a mix of full and part time roles.
As part of the application,
Savills presented the economic benefits equating to between £2,200-£5,500 per day of visitor spend off site during peak months, depending on the level of occupancy.
They also supplied evidence on archaeology and transport.
Martin Bonner, Associate Planning Director at Savills Newcastle, says: “We are delighted to have secured planning permission for the expansion of Hornsea Leisure Park.
“The domestic ‘staycation’ market has seen significant growth in the last decade and the importance of supporting UK tourism has been brought sharply into focus within recent months.
“The improvements not only enhance the quality of the existing park but will make anotable contribution toward supporting the local economy.”
