F you think you know Tong Garden Centre, think again. Located at the heart of Yorkshire, so many people have warm memories of visiting the centre, which was established in 1984, from children exploring every single corner of this exciting place to green-fingered folk finding the perfect plants for their gardens.

Now it’s time to have a fantastic new experience.

Since May, the 17-acre site has seen an extensive redevelopment. This has been based on the vision of new owners, lifelong friends and East Yorkshire businessmen Mark Farnsworth and Tom Megginson, to create a place of inspiration, aspiration, relaxation and fun for people of all ages.

At the heart of this is to recapture the nostalgia that people hold for Tong Garden Centre as well as take it forward in an exciting new direction.

“Tong Garden Centre really has a place in many people’s hearts, both locally and further afield,” explained Mark.

“When we talk to customers, there’s a real nostalgia for the garden centre. We’ve had so many visitors telling us they used to visit as a child and how it was a magical place. They are really excited about the changes we have made, and we are proud to take Tong Garden Centre forward as Yorkshire’s biggest, independent garden centre.”

Every change has been made to put the garden centre on the map as a real destination for people young and old. So what’s new at Tong?

First and foremost, Tong Garden Centre remains passionate about helping you to enjoy your garden. You’ll discover an extensive choice of plants and shrubs including Yorkshire-grown bedding plants, all complemented by an excellent range of pots, stone and garden products.

The experienced and knowledgeable staff will only be too pleased to discuss your gardening project with you and help you to select the best plants and materials. In fact, no matter where you are in the garden centre, you are never far from an expert or a friendly face to help you.
