Denby Dale Wines will hold a tasting on April 12 to present a new range of wines. As usual there is no charge, but ring 01484 865222 to book your place.

When you are on the phone put your name down for a tasting by Kevin Judd of Greywacke on June 14. It has taken three years for Denby Dale to tie Kevin down to a date and places will sell out very quickly. Because there will be food pairings, there will be a charge for this tasting, but whatever that charge is it will be worth every penny.

A new range of wines has arrived in Lidl and as usual they will be on the shelves until they have sold out. Head for my choice of best whites, Fiano Salento 2015 (£7.99), for delicious tropical fruit flavours and Sauvignon Blanc 2016, Central Valley, Chile (£4.99), a great value, easy-drinking, wine. Among the reds, head for Maremma Toscana 2013 (£7.99) for soft, plush, strawberry-edged flavours.

To counterbalance the endless fishing trips/shooting and ski trips that the men of this county get up to, Bon Coeur will hold a ladies-only Rosé lunch on May 4. This is to celebrate the arrival of their new rosé wines and because all profits will go to Marie Curie, Bon Coeur has asked that everyone wears a little pink. Tickets cost £50, available

on 01325 776446.

Chilean wine producer Santa Rita Estates has teamed up with the National Gallery to create a line of limited-edition wines. One of the first to be released is Santa Rita National Gallery Series Pinot Noir 2016 (Sainsbury’s, £7.50), depicting Camille Pisarro’s The Boulevard Montmartre at Night.
