On the grapevine
Waitrose deal: Just a few times a year Waitrose gives a massive 25 per cent discount on all wine and Champagne priced at over £5, when you buy six bottles or more. This is a terrific deal and is the opportunity to trade up and try wines that you might not normally buy. The deal started on Wednesday and lasts until Tuesday. The best way to select your mixed six – or even more – is to check out www. waitrosecellar.com. Delivery is free if you spend more than £150, but you can click and collect for £3.95 or free on orders over £100.
Clink with the club: I am delighted that many readers have switched to buying from the Yorkshire Post Wine Club during lockdown. This month’s offer is a selection of wines that I am particularly proud of and which are all suitable for chilling – even the reds. It includes a bright, zesty Vermentino from the south of France – perfect for teaming with seafood. There is a lively Sauvignon Blanc, a gorgeous, raspberry and herbs Frappato from Sicily and a Southern French Pinot Noir which I polished off at the first opportunity.
There is also a delicious pale, French rosé wine and a stylish fizz. The case contains six wines, two bottles of each for £83, a saving of over £20. See the offer on this page.
