Bring the office home

-

Whatever the long-term effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on the world of work, it is safe to say home working – full or parttime – is here to stay for many people.

How it is organised depends on your accommodation, of course, but Treske Furniture offers many ways to help make home working efficient and enjoyable.

For many busy households, the kitchen also doubles as the administrative hub of the home. Bills are opened, children are put to homework – or at least to a diversionary cooking lesson – and household planning takes place.

For others, the kitchen is also a place of work, with all the comforts of the biscuit tin, boiling water tap or kettle with a favourite blend only a few paces away. The temptation of the yardarm opening of the fridge, however, remains something to resist until the sun is well in descent!

For some, the kitchen is only a place of rest and recuperation with work taking place in other shared or dedicated rooms.

Designers have to understand and fully comprehend how their clients want to use different rooms, often from the viewpoint of more than one person. One person’s kitchen island for food preparation and cooking may be another’s for homework and wi-fi access.

Treske has been designing both kitchens and home offices for more than 40 years. With the current focus on home working, the importance of design in making the transition between work and rest as easy as possible is more important than ever.

For the office within a kitchen the location, the aspect of the PC monitor, network cabling or wi-fi access, filing, shelving and storage, as well as the ability to keep the area tidy and private, are all considerations. Often there is a dedicated office working area which, if space allows, is slightly away from the main kitchen surfaces.

Other rooms can also be used as offices, sometimes with specific desks and shelving that fits within the design of a sitting, snug or TV room. Modern and traditional designs, different woods and finishes can be made to complement existing furnishings, blending an office piece into the room.

The home worker may have a dedicated room where all the functions – shelving, storage, filing, desk surfaces, places for printers, power and cabling – can be planned and accommodated to provide an efficient, practical and comfortable working area.

With their many years of experience, Treske’s designers can help visualise your specific work area and develop a solution which will provide the best of both worlds. With home working on the rise, Treske Furniture can help make it easier.
