Dear Style Clinic

Since becoming pregnant, my skin has been prone to sensitivity and rashes, especially on my face when I am supposed to be radiant. What do you suggest?

As you are pregnant, it is essential that you make sure everything you put on your skin is safe, natural and soothing. Sarah Thomas, of Clockface Beauty, based in York, founded her all-natural skincare brand when she was pregnant. “I’m lucky enough to get to work with my mum, Karen Horsley,” she said. “Mum is a specialist scientist and because I was having some real skin issues due to my hormones, she blended some powerful natural ingredients to help and it absolutely transformed my skin. That blend is now our signature facial serum.” It contains jojoba golden oil, carrot seed oil and avocado oil and has a scent of myrrh, frankincense, ylang ylang and patchouli, which brings a sense of balance and calm.

Good preparatory skincare starts with cleansing morning and night. Clockface facial cleansing balm contains coconut oil, watermelon oil and anti-inflammatory Tamanu oil, so is helpful with break-outs.

Incidentally, if tired legs are a problem, the Clockface foot and leg balm won a Mama & Baby award last year, so is well worth a try.

Clockface Beauty has just launched a Virtual Skin Clinic. Sarah said: “Customers can now visit our website and take a short online quiz to figure out the right skincare routine for them. Or, if they need more bespoke advice, they can click into Ask Sarah and send me a direct message.”
