Bright ideas

- With Sharon Dale

Homeware sales have boomed online over the past year as more people realise the importance of good interiors and the positive effect they can have on our frame of mind.

There has also been a 134 per cent increase in demand for online interior design services.

Faye Robinson-Hey, of awardwinning Huddersfield interior design and joinery firm Robinson King Interiors, was ahead of the curve, having launched a virtual design service in late-2019.

Faye believes that the virtual aspect of the industry is set to grow beyond 2021. “Remote, online interior design is perfect for the current climate as well as being a great service for those who want to work with a designer in a more flexible manner,” she says.

“We produce digital design packages which are emailed to the client in addition to sample packs sent out in the post.

“We are aware that the impact of the pandemic will be long lasting not only on the way we live and work but also on the value we put on our own environments. Good design can have a positive impact on how we feel.”

Faye is also busy working with the family firm on advising clients who have commissioned extensions and conversions. “Converting existing outbuildings and garages is something that we have definitely seen an increase in over the last 12 months. In addition, we have also been working on a lot of bespoke joinery projects such as builtin media units, home libraries, home bars and home offices.”
