On the grapevine
Gin in a can: Perfect for picnics, York Gin now comes ready mixed with tonic in a slimline can that holds a generous 250ml of G&T. Chilled down in the fridge before you leave home, these stay cool with an icepack and you don’t have to worry about glass breakage. The G&T has a nice bite of flavour and comes in at just 6.5 per cent alcohol. There is also a Berry Fizz version, with light raspberry sherbet flavours. Available at £11 for four cans from the York Gin shop at 12 Pavement, York.
Bargains at Waitrose: Rush to Waitrose, either online or in-store to pick up some of the bargains it has available until closing time on Tuesday. There is 25 per cent off the whole range of wine and Champagne priced £5 and over. It is always tempting to take the discount and stick with the same favourite wines, but this really is an opportunity to trade up and see if you like new wines. I recently tasted through over 100 Waitrose wines. These are the ones I will head for.
