3. The Great Ryedale Maze

The Great Ryedale Maze, formerly known as The Great Yorkshire Maze, is between Scarborough and Malton, and promises “a field full of fun for adults, teenagers and children”, with two mazes, a vintage funfair, football-darts and a big top with live entertainment. The larger of the two mazes is the specially designed Yorkshire Dragon Maze, which takes its inspiration from the rich history of the Ryedale area, and in particular the Viking carving of a dragon at Levisham church, known as the Ryedale Dragon. It is open every day between now and September 5. Organiser James Cundall said: “The Great Ryedale Maze is set to become a regular summer attraction.”

The award-winning gallery is set on Wakefield’s historic waterfront and is named after the city’s famous daughter, sculptor Barbara Hepworth. Dedicated galleries showcase Hepworth’s art and working process with others displaying Wakfield’s art collection, featuring both British and contemporary art. There is an exciting programme of exhibitions, family focused events, workshops, talks and tours. The gallery is part of the inaugural Yorkshire Sculpture International organised with the Henry Moore Institute, Leeds Art Gallery and Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Running until September 2019, The Hepworth’s exhibition is centred around the idea of ‘truth to materials’. ■ The Hepworth Wakefield, Gallery Walk, Wakefield, West Yorkshire,
